ShapesXR is a 3D and XR design and prototyping tool. It is built to allow teams with no code to ideate, prototype, present and collaborate in spatial environments, including virtual reality, mixed and augmented reality, and via web. ShapesXR functions as a bridge between early stage concepting and full production, giving teams a shared spatial workspace where ideas can be visualised and tested long before development begins. Instead of relying on static storyboards or 2D mockups, designers and stakeholders can walk through environments, interact with prototypes, and iterate in real time, dramatically reducing the ambiguity that typically slows down XR projects. Because everything happens at human scale and inside a collaborative 3D canvas, the platform helps teams make faster, more confident decisions and ensures the final experience feels intuitive, polished and grounded in spatial reality.
Design and prototype in 3D
Create infinite 3D canvas spaces, placing objects, shapes, text and models, with materials and imported or built in assets.
Interactivity
Add triggers such as touch, hover and click, along with audio, state changes and hide or show behaviour.
Asset import and export
Import 3D models in formats such as OBJ, FBX and IGES, or export scenes to other engines and Unity workflows.
Real time collaboration
Multiple users join a session in VR or via web and collaborate on the design together in real time.
True scale stakeholder review
Stakeholders review prototypes at immersive, true 1:1 spatial scale rather than on flat 2D screens, helping decisions move faster.
Asynchronous collaboration and presentation mode
Supports comments and notes, plus a presentation mode for sharing with non-XR users via web.
Cross platform accessibility
A web editor means you do not need to be fully immersed in a headset to participate, and no advanced coding or game engine skills are needed.
Enterprise security and asset libraries
Supports enterprise security, shared asset libraries, and collaboration features built for teams.
XR app and game prototyping
Designers build UI and UX in immersive spaces, testing interactions, layouts and flows.
Product and industrial design
Simulate real scale products, testing ergonomics, workflows and spatial layout.
Virtual training, events and showrooms
Create MR or VR experiences for training, immersive presentations and virtual trade shows.
Education
Teaching students 3D spatial workflows and prototyping in immersive environments.
Stakeholder presentations
Giving non-technical stakeholders an immersive way to review and align on designs before full build.
XR, AR and VR designers
Teams wanting to prototype quickly without building a full game engine from day one.
Spatial design educators
Those teaching spatial design or running XR courses.
Teams pitching spatial concepts
Wanting to pitch showrooms, product layouts or immersive training and involve stakeholders early.
Design teams with non-technical participants
Teams where non-technical colleagues need to co-create and review in 3D.
Teams spanning headset and non-headset users
Needing a tool that works for both immersive device users and participants joining via web.
Technical readiness and workspace setup
- Confirm headset compatibility and ensure Wi-Fi stability for real time collaboration
- Ensure devices run the latest ShapesXR version and validate account setup for each team member
- Create an organisational workspace and set up project folders for teams or product lines
- Assign permissions, viewer, editor or collaborator, and configure naming conventions for projects and scenes
Team readiness and content preparation
- Provide onboarding for new users and align on collaboration etiquette, voice, annotations and versioning
- Set up regular VR workshop or review sessions and train facilitators to lead working sessions
- Upload 3D models or concept assets, optimising for performance, and build foundational scene layouts
- Create template scenes for repeatable workflows
Collaboration and facilitation
- Test multi-user sessions with a small group first and validate voice chat and object manipulation
- Establish a workflow for reviewing, iterating and exporting, and sync projects with tools such as Figma or Unity
- Prepare instructions for tool usage and establish comfort settings for participants
- Provide guidelines for remote contributors joining via passthrough view
Operational support and review
- Assign a session facilitator and technical support role, with backup headsets or chargers on hand
- Establish a troubleshooting process and keep a changelog of updates to avoid version conflicts
- Export scenes or models for documentation and log decisions made during sessions
- Gather team feedback on workflow efficiency and plan the next session with updated objectives
