Portico XR

Vendor: PorticoXR

Overview

Portico XR is a dedicated VR learning management system and content platform designed to make immersive training scalable, manageable and trackable for both businesses and educational organisations. It aggregates hundreds of VR learning experiences, from health and safety to soft skills and technical training, into a single portal, so organisations do not need to juggle many different apps. Portico also supports AI enhanced content creation via Azure OpenAI, helping speed up course development, make interactions more realistic, and enable real time translation and accessibility. Its platform is headset agnostic, supporting a wide range of VR devices including Meta Quest, Pico and HTC Vive.

Technical readiness and platform setup

  • Confirm headset compatibility and ensure stable connectivity for multi-user sessions and content streaming
  • Install Portico XR on all devices and confirm storage capacity for environments and content
  • Create an organisational workspace and user accounts, and assign roles such as administrator or facilitator
  • Upload branding elements and establish naming conventions for scenarios, sessions and learner groups

Content and scenario preparation

  • Select pre-built scenarios or upload custom XR training content, configuring branching logic and scoring
  • Test each scenario for smooth performance, audio clarity and correct interaction with objects
  • Prepare facilitator instructions and debrief guidance, and optimise 3D assets for device performance

Facilitator readiness and session delivery

  • Train facilitators on starting sessions, monitoring performance and exporting reports
  • Provide learners with onboarding on VR navigation, tools and safety guidelines, and set expectations for completion
  • Preload scenarios onto headsets, verify battery levels, and conduct a trial run with facilitators

Operational support and improvement

  • Maintain headset hygiene, battery cycles and firmware updates, with technical support during live sessions
  • Document common troubleshooting steps and back up scenario data, maintaining version control
